Before moving in, everyone praised: This is the most satisfying place for my home decoration!

After moving in, the food was tasteless: what did you think, why did you do this?

These 9 designs are all like this. It’s really not worth investing in. Don’t waste your money.

1. Large floor-to-ceiling windows

This is the most proud design when the owner @Asakooo renovated his home. It once attracted nearly 400,000 people because of this large floor-to-ceiling window.

But not long after she moved in, she regretted it. Compared with the money spent on installing it (tens of thousands of dollars) and the setbacks (glass transported by crane), the living experience was too mismatched:

①The glass is too large and the windows are too few, which affects the ventilation;

②The privacy is poor, as long as the curtains are not drawn, every move at home will be exposed to the eyes of the people on the opposite floor;

③When the wind blows, the windows shake slightly, which makes people terrified.

This can be tolerated, but what is even more helpless is that after three years of living, the glass actually exploded. Although it was the inner layer, it also scared the owner enough.

In this way, it cannot be attributed to the problem of product quality, because the glass itself has a self-explosion rate of 3/1,000. The manufacturer will give you a free replacement for after-sales service. If the after-sales service is not good, you have to pay for it yourself. The key customization time limit, It’s still a month, and it’s expensive and troublesome.

Mai Yue’s suggestion: If it is not a sea view, river view room, ordinary residential area, or even the buildings are relatively close together, it is really not worth it as a large floor-to-ceiling window, there is no scenery at all, and it also reduces the living experience, so it is not recommended to invest.

2. Agate jade tiles

It is a tile with agate texture and jade effect. Just looking at the sample is really impressive. After buying it at a friend’s house, I kept showing it off: This is agate + jade, how extravagant!

But after the paving, I regretted it before I moved in. I chose one stone and nine sides. There are enough colors, and I don’t worry about repeating it. It’s messed up.

Taking one more look, I have a strong sense of dizziness. The whole thing is too extravagant, and I can’t hold it.

Mai Yue’s suggestion: It doesn’t mean that laying big bricks will show the atmosphere of the home, but laying extravagant bricks will definitely show the extravagance of the home. The applicable scene is very important. Only in large spaces such as villas can it show its atmospheric effect.

For ordinary household use, it is recommended to use bricks with fewer patterns and more elegant colors, which are more durable and durable.

3. Color latex paint

When decorating, the owner is most proud of the gray latex paint in the home, which is calm, gentle and textured, not as monotonous as the big white walls.

But after I moved in, I found the problem. It was very difficult to repair a little bump, mark, colored strokes, etc., and I could hardly find the right color.

Mai Yue suggested: If you understand soft decoration, it is more practical and worry-free to scrape the whole house. If there is a problem in the later stage, just use white repair paste to repair it.

4. Built-in skirting line

Ordinary baseboards are easy to fall off dust, and it is troublesome to wipe, so I thought of making built-in baseboards with a height of 2cm, embedded in the inside of the wall, and the wall has a sense of suspension. The requirements of the owner @ Kaka.

But I really can’t take a closer look. During the construction itself, the wall was not flat enough. In addition, the late check-in, the bump of the vacuum cleaner, and the suspended part of the wall have been devastated, all of which are pitted and scratched.

Moreover, because we want to achieve the effect of minimalism and suspension, the 2cm-high skirting line is difficult to clean. When wiping, you have to lie on the ground and wipe it gently with a wet towel. If you can’t wipe the wall, it will leave marks. .

This kind of skirting is very troublesome during construction. It needs to be grooved – put the skirting – putty putty – level the wall – paint and so on. Not to mention the double labor cost, it is also easy to be damaged because the wall is not flat enough. Step on the pit.

Mai Yue suggested: The original function of the skirting is to block the gap between the tile/wood floor against the wall and protect the wall. If the height is too low, it will not have any substantive effect except to look good.

Therefore, even if you want to do built-in skirting, it is recommended to have a height of about 4cm, which at least has a certain protective effect.

Here’s a reminder, if you plan to lay solid wood floors, don’t make built-in skirtings. Solid wood floors need to reserve gaps for thermal expansion and contraction, and built-in skirtings can’t be reached.

5. Slate wash basin

In the past two years, the fire has been so messed up that many people feel that they have a lot of face after they have installed them, and they are much more attractive than ceramic basins.

After checking in, you will know that there are many tasteless food, intolerance to dirt, slow running water, and difficult to clean, which will greatly reduce the sense of use of your bathroom.

Especially this kind of dark color, it is very obvious if there is a little scale on the surface, the drainage gap is super narrow, and it cannot be cleaned normally at all. You must use a small shovel to plug it in.

The right angles with no radian around are excellent hiding places for stains. Unless you can develop the habit of cleaning every day, you will not know how to start when you go out for a week.

Moreover, the outside of the slate basin is still sharp at right angles, which is easy to break the porcelain, and it is extremely painful to touch.

Mai Yue’s suggestion: Believe me, the slate one-piece basin is really useless except for being beautiful. It is not recommended to buy it easily!

If you have high requirements for appearance and have a sufficient budget, you can choose a Corian one-piece basin, which is good-looking and easy to take care of. If the budget is average, you can directly use a ceramic one-piece basin, which is convenient in all aspects.

6. Solid wood floor made of pure wood

Who has such perseverance? Sawed into pieces with ready-made wood, and then painted, do not worry about the quality of the wood, there is no middleman to make the difference, it is safe and practical, which is also too proud.

However, the effect of the paving is still not flattering. The wood has not been selected, and the spots and scars on the surface have not been treated. The original ecology is a bit excessive.

Mai Yue suggested: Although this method saves money, I really don’t recommend it. It is purely thankless. The money that the manufacturer should make has to be earned by others. After all, the quality and appearance are more guaranteed.

7. Brick bathtub

How proud it is to build a swimming pool with bricks at home. Adults take a bath and children play with water. Can a ready-made bathtub achieve such an effect?

But after moving in, the food soon became tasteless:

①Brick bathtubs are indeed big enough, but they also cost water. If you soak them every day, you can’t bear the water bill;

②Rapid cooling, without any thermal insulation measures, when the basic water is filled, the temperature will drop, and it will not be soaked for a long time;

③It is too troublesome to clean, and it is still a right-angle dead corner. Every time you clean it, you have to pick a gap, and you can’t stand it after a few times, and it is easy to become a sundries tank;

④I can’t move it, I don’t want it later, it’s hard to dismantle.

⑤ The material is hard, with edges and corners, and it is more afraid of falling and bumping.

Mai Yue suggested: such a brick bathtub is not worth investing in, there are too many problems, and the comfort is not good. I really like bathing. It is more reliable to buy a finished bathtub. At least the surface is smooth, the safety is high, and it is relatively easy to take care of. .

8. Invisible clothes drying rack

Personal experience, I installed invisible drying racks when my house was renovated. When I thought about not drying clothes, I could put the clothes racks away to achieve the invisible effect, and the balcony looked clean and tidy.

As a result, I really think too much. I have clothes to wash every day at home, and I often do not collect them in time. Therefore, after the clothes hanger came down, I never went on it again. .

Maiyue’s suggestion: Don’t expect the invisible drying rack to free the balcony. If you install a dryer, it may not be free, because not every piece of clothing can be dried. The most effective way is to buy a house with double balconies, specializing in Set up a laundry area.

9. Kitchen sliding door

Before the installation, I had various thoughts, worried that the sanitation of the floor rails would be difficult to take care of, and the hanging rails would not be durable, so I chose a lot of them, and finally installed the hanging cabinet doors at a high price.

It turned out that after moving in, the kitchen door was never closed at all, especially in summer, when the cooking was hot, I could not wait to tear it down.

Mai Yue’s suggestion: choose the hanging rail door with confidence. No matter how durable it is, it won’t be opened and closed several times a year, and its lifespan will not be greatly affected.
