Squatting toilet trap installation steps
1. If there is a drain plug installed at the bottom of the curved part of the water trap, use a wrench to remove the drain plug and drain the water in the trap into the bucket. If there is no drain plug, then loosen the slide nuts and move them out of the way.
2. If the water trap is a rotating type, then the curved part of the water trap can be disassembled freely. However, keep the trap upright while removing it, and pour out the water after the section is removed. If the trap is fixed and cannot be rotated, unscrew the tailpipe slip nut at the drain flange and the slip nut at the top of the trap. Push the tailpipe down into the trap and turn the trap clockwise until the water in the trap can be drained. Pull out the tailpipe, unscrew the screw securing the trap, and remove the trap from the drain extension or drainpipe.
3. According to the needs, purchase drain pipe traps with suitable diameters, new tailpipes, drainage channel extensions or other accessories. The swivel trap is the easiest to use because you can easily adjust it to change its angle or align it with the drain/component. The drain plug on the trap is also convenient, so you don’t have to remove the trap to clean it.
4. Replace the parts in the correct order, making sure to install the sliding nut, pressure sealing tape or large washer on the corresponding part of the pipe. Loosely connect the parts together with sliding nuts, make final adjustments to align the pipes with each other, then tighten the nuts to just the right amount of tightness, not too tight. There is usually no need to use plumber’s tape or joint filler, but you can.
5. Fill the new trap with water immediately, both to check for leaks and to allow the water to form an important barrier against sewer gas.
