If you want to save time and effort, and you are a local tyrant who doesn’t care about the cost, you can use bathtub cleaner directly. Not only can it effectively remove soap scum and limescale in the bathtub, but it will not cause any damage to the outside of the bathtub.
wipe with old newspaper
